Overview

Family members of persons who entered Israel before 19 March 1970 and received a permanent residence permit can apply for Israeli citizenship according to section 4A of the Law of Return.

Who Can Apply

You can apply if you meet ALL of the following conditions:

• You are a family member of someone recognized as Jewish who entered Israel before 19 March 1970 and received a permanent residence permit
• You are NOT registered as “Jewish” in the Population Registry
• You have NOT been granted Israeli citizenship through naturalization

Required Documents

• Your ID card or passport

How to Apply

1. Download, print, and complete the Notification of Interest in Receiving Citizenship pursuant to section 4A of The Law of Return form (available at: https://www.gov.il/blobFolder/service/declaration_of_intent_to_receive_rights_according_to_the_law_of_return/en/Apply%20for%20citizenship%20by%20virtue%20of%20Right%20of%20Return.pdf)
2. Submit the application in person with the required documents at your local Population and Immigration Authority (PIBA) office

• It is recommended to contact the relevant Immigrant Association or a lawyer who specializes in your country of origin’s migration laws before applying
• Receiving Israeli citizenship may affect other citizenships you currently hold (dual citizenship implications)
• The service and forms are provided in Hebrew; non-Hebrew speakers should seek assistance from a Hebrew speaker
