50 Evaluation of Foreign Academic Degrees In order to be accepted at a work place, you will be asked to present documents confirming education and professional training awarded overseas, such as a high school education, diplomas, confirmation of the graduation of courses, and so forth. The Division for Evaluation of Foreign Academic Degrees at the Ministry of Education is in charge of evaluating Foreign Academic Degrees that were awarded overseas, in comparison to those that are common in Israel, for purposes of determining salary in a public-sector job, and other work places. Sometimes the approval of the degree is one of the conditions for applying to a public- sector tender, when a degree is required. Submitting a request for the evaluation of degrees The submitting of requests for evaluation of a degree, and for receiving information about foreign academic institutions, is done through the site of the Ministry of Education. All documents submitted online should be verified as faithful to the original (“ne’eman lamakor”) by an Israeli lawyer, on every single page. Please Note! New immigrants who have studied prior to making aliyah, can turn to the absorption counselors near their place of residence, in order to have them stamp their documents as faithful to the original (free of charge), instead of a lawyer. It is necessary to supply a notarized translation with a red ribbon to all relevant documents. Documents in the following language do not require translation: English, Arabic, Russian, and Ukrainian.
