Garin Tzabar (Tzofim Scouts) — Lone Soldier Aliyah Enlistment Program

77 The Tzabar Scouts (Tzofim) group (Garin) The Garin Tzabar program is an accompaniment program for people who are eligible according to the law of return and descendants of Israelis residing abroad who choose to make aliyah and enlist into a full and meaningful service in the IDF as lone soldiers. The program is organized by the Scouts Youth Movement in conjunction with other entities. The objectives of the program are to create a supportive social network for lone soldiers by building a group and supplying close backup. The backup begins in the country of origin, where the young people go through a process of mental and emotional preparation. When they arrive in Israel, they begin absorption with the Scouts Youth Movement and move to live in an adoptive community that offers a supportive and warm home. The core of the program is during the military service - during which they continue to live as a group and receive accompaniment and support. Who is eligible for the program • Women ages 17 (18 on the conscription date) to 22. • Men ages 17 (18 on the conscription date) to 23. • High school graduates (or those scheduled to graduate during the year of the preparatory program). The Tzabar Program is designed for participants who are not required to perform military service as defined by the “Military Service” Law.
