The Jewish Agency, in collaboration with the Government of Israel, accompanies Olim from the moment they decide to immigrate, throughout their preparation process, until their full integration into the country.
The 7 Steps to Aliyah
Step 1: Initial Aliyah Questionnaire
The first step is to complete an online questionnaire. This helps the Jewish Agency understand your situation and how they can assist you in the process.
Step 2: Consultation with the Aliyah File Manager
After completing the online questionnaire, a personal manager will be assigned and will contact you within two business days. They will review the information submitted and prepare you for the next steps. You can also contact them at any time through the Global Aliyah Center.
Step 3: Opening a Virtual File (Expediente Virtual)
At the end of the call, the representative will open your file in the online portal. From that moment, you can manage your Aliyah process easily, digitally, and securely, and know the status of your file at all times. You will need to complete required questionnaires and upload necessary documents, including:
- Birth certificates
- Passport
- Civil status certificates (marriage, divorce, etc.)
- Criminal background check
- Proof of Judaism
Step 4: Aliyah Interview
A personal interview will be conducted with you and your family members. The goal is to understand your needs and expectations in order to advise and assist you in the best possible way. During the interview, you must present all original documents previously uploaded.
Step 5: Eligibility Approval
Your file will be reviewed by an eligibility coordinator. If approved, you will receive an email with the official approval. Note that additional information or documents may be requested.
Step 6: Final Stage of the Aliyah Process
This stage covers final preparations for your Aliyah:
- Issuance of visa (if necessary)
- Airline tickets (for those who are eligible)
- Notification to Israeli authorities about your arrival
Step 7: Welcome to Israel!
Upon arrival, you are invited to join one of the Jewish Agency’s absorption programs.
How Long Does the Process Take?
The process typically takes between 3 and 6 months, depending largely on your ability to provide all requested documents and whether additional documents or information are required.
Where to Make Aliyah From: Abroad or Inside Israel?
- From abroad: Apply through the Jewish Agency.
- From inside Israel: Apply directly through the Population and Immigration Authority (Rashut HaHagira).
- In some cases, the Jewish Agency can assist with the Aliyah process from within Israel.
- The same documentation is required and the same benefits apply regardless of where you initiate the process.
